Eligibility and age limit
Candidates must meet specified educational and age requirements as detailed below.
- Educational qualification: 10+2 (Intermediate) or equivalent from a recognized board; Punjabi as a subject in Matriculation (10th). For Ex-Servicemen, minimum qualification is Matriculation.
- Age limit (as on 01 January 2026): Minimum 18 years; Maximum 28 years.
- Age relaxation: SC/BC candidates and government employees up to 33 years; Ex-Servicemen — service period deducted from age plus 3 years relaxation.
Physical standards
Minimum height requirements differ by gender; transgender candidates will be treated at par with female candidates.

Selection process
The selection will be carried out in three stages: Computer-Based Test (CBT), Physical Screening Test (PST) and Document Verification.
Stage 1 – Computer-Based Test (CBT)
The CBT consists of two papers; details and marking rules are provided below.
- Paper I (100 marks): Subjects include General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, English Language, Punjabi Language and Digital Literacy.
- Paper II (Punjabi Language): 50 marks; qualifying only (50% required).
- No negative marking.
Stage 2 – Physical Screening Test (PST)
Physical screening standards include running events and jumping events with specified targets for male and female candidates.
- Male candidates: 1600 m race in 6 minutes 30 seconds; Long Jump 3.80 m; High Jump 1.10 m.
- Female candidates: 800 m race in 4 minutes 30 seconds; Long Jump 3.00 m; High Jump 0.95 m.
Stage 3 – Document Verification
Candidates who qualify earlier stages must produce specified documents at verification.
- 10th certificate (age proof).
- 12th certificate.
- Punjabi language certificate.
- Category certificate (if applicable).
